Bill Berry is Professor of Management at the McColl School of
Business at Queens University of Charlotte. He received his B.S. degree in
Geophysics from Virginia Tech, served in the U.S. Army and worked as a
development engineer for the Kendall Corporation. In pursuit of
an academic career, he earned his doctorate from the Harvard Business
School. While there he participated in the International Teachers
Program in Leysin, Switzerland.
He has held tenured appointments in the
management schools of The Ohio State University and Wake Forest and has been
a visiting professor at Dartmouth’s Tuck School, Duke’s Fuqua and Medical
Schools, Southern Methodist’s Cox School and the American International
Graduate School of Business (Thunderbird).
Bill has won five awards for teaching
excellence. His primary research and writing interests focus on the
strategic relationships between operations, marketing, and organization
structure. He is the author of two books, including
Management Decision Sciences: Cases and Readings.
He has also written several articles for scholarly
journals and over 100 cases and teaching notes.
Bill operates a consulting practice
which focuses on corporate and operating strategies, technology and
materials management, mathematical modeling, management of services and
management development. His clients have included AT&T,
Anheuser-Busch, Becton-Dickson, British Telecom, Campbell-Taggart, Champion
International, Chrysler, Ciba-Geigy, Digital Equipment, First National Bank
of Chicago, GTE, Gould, IBM, ITT, the U.S. Justice Department, National
Steel, Pitney-Bowes, Polaroid, Rockwell, Sara Lee, U.S. Borax,
Westinghouse Electric, and the World Bank.
