Crandall
C. Bowles is chairman and chief executive officer of Springs Global US,
Inc., and co-chairman of
Springs Global Participações S.A., a holding company
resulting from the merger of Springs Global US and Coteminas S.A., the
leading home textile supplier in South America. Springs Global, the holding
company, is the world’s largest supplier of textile home furnishings, with
annual sales of about $2.4 billion, facilities in five countries, and 18,000
employees worldwide.
Prior to
2006, Crandall served as chairman, chief executive officer and president of
Springs Industries, Inc., which continues and she serves as chairman of the
board. Crandall joined Springs Industries as an executive vice president in
1992, held several assignments, was appointed president and chief operating
officer in 1997 and then chairman, CEO and president in 1998. From 1978 to
1992, Crandall was an officer and subsequently president of The Springs
Company, a privately held management company responsible for her family’s
non-textile operations and investments. She earned a BA in Economics from
Wellesley College in 1969, worked at Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York and
earned an MBA from Columbia University in 1973.
Crandall
serves on the boards of Deere & Company, the African Wildlife Foundation,
and the Maya Angelou Research Center on Minority Health. Additionally, she
is a member of The Business Council, The Business Roundtable, and the
Committee of 200.
Crandall
and her husband, Erskine, have three grown children and one grandchild and
live in Charlotte, NC. Her personal interests include hiking, running and
travel.
