McColl School of Business at Queens Changes Executive MBA Program
University’s EMBA degree moves to 20-month schedule, academic year to begin in September
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 18, 2008) – The McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte today announced that it will change the calendar year of its Executive MBA (EMBA) program, effective immediately. The EMBA will move from its traditional 24-month program that began in January, to a more concentrated 20-month program that begins in September. The EMBA admissions office is accelerating its enrollment process and currently recruiting students for the Class of 2010. The EMBA program at the McColl School is the oldest and still the only EMBA program in the Charlotte area. The program will continue to offer students the innovative and dynamic curriculum that has characterized the program since its inception in 1990. Students benefit from the program’s integrated curriculum approach, teamwork development, cohort format and 3 C’s mantra – commitment to community, competence and character – designed to bring out the leader within. The program boasts four semesters of academic work and one summer term consisting of a non-profit consulting project and an international study experience. “The change in our calendar year is being driven by the new demands of today’s business executive,” explained Ron Veith, director of the EMBA program at Queens’ McColl School of Business. “Currently executives must strike a balance between their professional career development and personal lives. By moving to a 20-month program, our EMBA students will have more time to dedicate to their day-to-day responsibilities, including spending time with family, while still receiving the quality educational experience they expect from Queens’ McColl School of Business.” The McColl School EMBA program focuses the case method and the experience of our EMBA students for a learning environment that is dedicated to working on the practical application of each individual’s management and leadership skills. Participants are typically mid- to senior-level professionals and/or entrepreneurs with significant work/management experience and the potential for higher level leadership positions. The program meets on alternating Fridays and Saturdays on the Myers Park campus.
